Les Moon (Poet) Women's Baroness Tee
The Second Moon of Klah had rather a lot of time on his hands. Occasionally he was required to perform some kind of exotic eclipse, or paint his face blue, or red, or turn this way or that way, but mostly he was left to his own devices, particularly as the First Moon of Klah was rather bossy and tended to hog most of the moon duties herself. Lesley (as he was commonly known) thus learnt to amuse himself by dedicating himself to many different hobbies, none of which it could be said he was particularly skilled at. He had attempted at one time or another to become a master finger puppeteer, a pastry chef, a baton twirler, a patchwork quilter and an avant garde keyboardist, but when these did not work out (for obvious, fingerless reasons) he eventually settled on the idea of becoming the world’s most prolific poet, even ordering a shiny name-badge that said LES MOON, POET (PROLIFIC). Unfortunately he had no interest in writing about things he knew – instead he wrote poems about walking on the beach: “the water felt thick under my feet and the sand silky behind my ears”. He wrote about hang-gliding, which he thought was called ‘ham-gliding’: “I became one with the ham and together / we went gliding”. He recited his poetry in a loud, booming moon-voice to everyone within hearing, polished his name-badge, and waited patiently to be discovered.
